Day 1
Holden comes to Prayer's Pass expecting some kind of retreat and is kind of creeped out by the whole thing. He goes out to the woods to smoke, where he meets
Mayu, a nice girl who is looking for her axe. He ends up spending most of the day in
the palace of fun where he meets Akane and Aoi; the former knocks him out a little, the latter strikes him as nice. He's assigned to
Cabin P, which he shares with Xion (who he does not really talk to) and Damian Wayne, a detective's half-orphan brat allegedly competent in combat. They don't get along that well but at the same time Holden recognizes Damian as just a kid.
Day 2
In the rec room Holden chats with a guy named
Charles and mentions that he thinks Bonnie is not a visitor. He also tries to talk to
Hermione.
Holden votes at random for James Sunderland on the grounds that he appears to be an adult man.
Holden leaves the trial very concerned about the implications having voted for no reason will have.
Akane approaches him - he explains to her that he voted at random, but then becomes curious about her decision to vote for Mayu. She implies she had her reasons and with her feminine wiles entices him into an alliance.
Spain also comes along but they mostly make idle conversation about Spain's status as a member of the country nicknames club.
Day 3
Holden hears about the disappearances on the radio but convinces himself to act nonchalant at first, and after breakfast immediately heads to the
Palace of Fun. Unfortunately, much to his shock and distress Mayu's severed head lies underneath the pool table. Needing to know more, he heads to the
town hall. There it is revealed that not only was the prey Sam Winchester executed by hunters the night prior, but Mayu was an omnivorous "scavenger" decapitated by an unknown party, and Mr. Hanekoma, the "tracker" among the wolves, was shot. Beat, who knew Hanekoma from before, is distressed by this discovery; Holden chooses this time to have a
private conversation with him.
During the trial
Touko casts suspicion on people who talked privately, for which Holden kids her mercilessly.
Akane joins in as she continues to defend people who voted yesterday, cementing his fondness of her.
Naegi on the other hand is a slight source of friction.
Beat comes forward about their conversation; as they continue to discuss, Holden argues that Robin may have killed Mayu but would have done so as a scavenger. A little late,
Aoi shows up to the trial to Holden's relief. Ema and Beat
arrange a test of swordsmanship, which Holden encourages them to have in
public.
To cooperate with the forming mob and avoid voting for Robin, Holden casts his vote with the mob for Elliot Nightray.
After he is chilled to have voted for prey with a power role instead of Beat's proposed Robin and also that Touko voted for him, but decides to leave her alone.
Akane, who to Holden's disappointment abstained, takes the death much worse and Holden fails to comfort her, eerily reminiscent of the time he almost necked with Jane Gallagher. He expresses apologies for not voting with him to a morose
Beat.
